It looks like Marvel has found its star to lead the new She-Hulk series on Disney and its none other than Tatiana Maslany. The actress who rose to fame in shows such as Orphan Black on Netflix and HBO’s Perry Mason will channel the Marvel character.
Set to be directed by Kat Coiro, the Marvel series will centre on Jennifer Walters who inherits some of the Hulk’s powers. In the comics, Walters is the cousin of Bruce Banner, who receives the Hulk’s green skin and super strength after a blood transfusion.
Interestingly, the character was one of the last major superheroes created by the late Stan Lee. The Marvel great co-created She-Hulk with John Buscema. If Marvel takes the same route as the comics with this new series, then expect Mark Ruffalo to appear in the series as well. At least that’s what many fans would hope and are striving for.
Marvel’s She-Hulk is currently in development but it should be a while longer for cameras to start rolling on the production due to the pandemic. Marvel Studios currently have several series in the works including The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki and a series centred on Hawkeye, which will all likely debut next year. Wandavision seems to be the only series that will debut on Disney+ this year.
