Disney has announced that Maleficent 2 will hit cinemas in October 2019, the film will be titled Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. The new release date should please fans as it several months ahead of the targeted debut.
Maleficent 2 will see Angelina Jolie reprise her role as the one-time Sleeping Beauty villain. As seen in the first film, do expect Jolie to once more deliver a more heroic spin to the character. Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) is helming this follow-up, which takes place years after the first movie.
The story will continue exploring the relationship between the witch with the soon-to-be Queen, Elle Fanning. They will also need to ban together to face new adversaries that threaten their land.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil also stars Michelle Pfeiffer as Queen Ingrith and Harris Dickinson as Prince Philip, with Chitwetel Ejiofor, Ed Skrein, and Robert Lindsay filling out the new additions. Reprising their roles from the first Maleficent are Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, and Lesley Manville.
