Joining a seemingly endless list of reboot projects comes MacGyver, which will be spearheaded by CBS and director James Wan. This news is just the latest reboot announcement coming from Hollywood with various channels taping into film properties, classic franchises as well as TV shows and repackaging them for a newer audience.
MacGyver though has a lot going for it as it had a pretty extensive and successful run in the 80s. The series focused on a special ops agent who solves crimes and cases by using his intellect, often times creating weapons and traps using plain household items. The series, which starred Richard Dean Anderson, ran from 1985 to 1992.
If a reboot effort gets underway, CBS will be looking to tap into the talents of Furious 7 director, Wan and it will reportedly focus on a 20-something MacGyver who is recruited into a clandestine organisation. However, getting Wan’s full attention to work on this project could be an impossible task in itself based on the number of projects that he has been linked to as of late.
Do you think a MacGyver series could work in this era of computers and technology? Should CBS leave this one well enough alone?
