Although Star Wars: The Last Jedi is dominating headlines, there’s no denying that Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is putting up quite a fight at the box-office. The Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart led comedy reboot pulled in over USD50 million over the holidays for grand total of USD185 million thus far.
In Malaysia, Jumanji has just officially become the top movie in the country and the third highest grossing movie in its second week. According to figures released by Sony Pictures Malaysia, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle has pulled in RM48.29mil so far, which is indeed impressive. The movie was released in cinemas on 21 December 2017 and it has impressed many including us.
To show his thanks, Dwayne Johnson took to Instagram to thank his Malaysian fans for the impressive feat.
“MALAYSIA THANK YOU! #Jumanji is already the 3rd biggest movie of all time and who knows where we wind up”- said Johnson in a special shout-out to his fans across the globe. The action star took time off his busy schedule to send out a number of videos thanking his fans in Brazil as well as Indonesia for making Jumanji a hit.
The former WWE Superstar also recalled his time performing in Kuala Lumpur in 2002 during a Live WWE Smackdown Tour where he tangled with then Universal Champion, Chris Jericho.
“Our roots go way back years ago as I had some of my best (and grueling) wrestling matches right there in Kuala Lumpur,” he added.
