It looks like James Gunn is being scouted to helm and write Suicide Squad 2 for Warner Bros and DC according to a recent report. The director reportedly is being looked at by the big wigs at Warner Bros to take charge of the upcoming sequel.
Although not a super-sized hit, Suicide Squad did manage to rake in over USD700 million at the box-office, which is a nice bit of change for the studio. Gunn should fit the role perfectly and is more than familiar with the source material of anti-heroes who come together for a heroic adventure.
The reports of Gunn’s involvement – although a rumour at this point of time – comes hot on the heels of another change in the director’s chair. Gavin O’ Connor who was previously attached to the project has apparently left Suicide Squad 2. The director has gone on to re-team with Ben Affleck for sports drama, The Has-Been.
Personally, we’re excited to hear Gunn being linked to Suicide Squad 2 and so is Dave Bautista. The actor who portrays Drax the Destroyer has been vocal about Disney’s dismissal of Gunn. Following the news that Gunn was linked with the Warner Bros project, Bautista Tweeted his excitement, asking ‘Where Do I Sign Up?’.
