It’s no secret that Fast & Furious 7 is going to be a bonafide hit, which smashed its way to a number of box-office records. But despite the money it has been raking in, there have been some gaping issues with the most recent film.
One of those issues stem from a clear lack of characters in the film, especially with the departure of Han (Sung Kang) and Gisele (Gal Gadot) from the series. And now with a reported Fast & Furious 8 on the horizon, filmmakers could be looking to beef up the crew with the addition of a character from the past series.
Customs Agent Monica Fuentes (Eva Mendes) is rumoured to join the production, which is heavily-rumoured to happen (box-office receipts don’t lie) in the very near future. Mendes portrayed the character in 2 Fast 2 Furious alongside the late Paul Walker and Tyrese Gibson as well as in an end credit cameo at the end of Fast 5.
With a thinning cast and the omission of Walker from the franchise already, Mendes could be a welcome addition to the 8th film in the franchise. If this rumour is indeed true, then it should bode well for the franchise to carry on. Let’s hope that if Fast & Furious 8 does get made, then there’s a spot for Sean Boswell (Lucas Black) from Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift as well.
