A+E Networks Asia is gearing up for the launch of the brand-new season of HISTORY Asia’s original production and award-winning automotive reality series Celebrity Car Wars.

Returning for a third season, viewers can expect a turbocharged season that will be faster and fiercer with a new line up of six celebrities across Southeast Asia to compete in a variety of super-charged automotive challenges

Competing for honour, ego, and bragging rights this season’s new line up are six celebrities from around the region who are ready to test their skills, endurance, and smarts against each other. The challengers getting behind the wheel include Singaporean actor and comedian Munah Bagharib; Malaysian actor, producer and director Hans Isaac; Filipino actor, VJ, and son of legendary actress Teresa Loyzaga, Diego Loyzaga; American-Filipino actor, model, and singer Xian Lim; Thai-Australian actor, singer, and model, Matthew Deane; his wife and competitor Thai R&B idol, actress, and social media influencer Lydia Sarunrat.

Hans Isaac who will be flying the Malaysian flag for this season’s competition revealed more about the season and the challenges each competitor faced at a media launch held in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.

“The only experience I had racing per se was driving the MME (Malaysian Millennium Endurance racing) some years back. It was endurance racing and I was part of a three man drive crew, which is far removed from Celebrity Car Wars,” Isaac explains.

“For this show it was different cars, different track and challenges, which threw everyone off their game.” Isaac admits his experience in the MME helped him at the track events of Celebrity Car Wars but it did nothing to boost his chances in events like 4WD.

The Malaysian actor and producer admits he had a great time filming the show and becoming friends with his fellow competitors. “I think we’ve all become great friends over the course of the show. I think we were also very nice to each other and in the beginning. I mean we Googled each other just to find out a little bit more at the beginning but some of the niceties went out the window the competition started!”

Host Bobby Tonelli and guest mentors, professional race drivers Gaby dela Merced and Michele Bumgarner, helped steer the stars along their individual clashes and eight-week journey. And viewers can expect to see more madcap motoring mayhem and extreme challenges including an all-new perilous construction site obstacle course, an epic drag race down WCC’s Binalonan Airfield, and an amusing battle to pimp out a wreck.

Other challenges from previous seasons have been brought back by popular demand, including a Jeepney race, reverse racing, and an insanely tough off-road 4X4 ride along Pampanga’s Sacobia River. Celebrities will also face the dreaded brick wall, which returns to test their gumption yet again.

“The Jeepney race was the tough one for me,” admits Isaac. “It legitimately scared me because those vehicles weren’t set up for racing and we had to do this race with the owners of the Jeepney there as well,” he adds.

“It was extremely hard because these guys had to use the car to make a living the next day so it was tough for me personally, because I wanted to compete but at the same time not wreck the thing and spoil someone’s livelihood.”

Celebrity Car Wars Season 3 premieres 9 September on HISTORY Asia (ASTRO CH555 and CH575 HD), Sundays 9.55pm.
