SJ Clarkson is set to direct HBO’s George R.R. Martin Game Of Thrones prequel pilot. The prequel will take place thousands of years before the events of the current series. HBO also made the announcement that accomplished director will also direct an untitled Jane Goldman project as well.

The new series takes place thousands of years before the events of Game Of Thrones, the series chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour.

And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’s history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.

Clarkson is an accomplished director in the UK who has notched up a number of big projects in the US. She most recently directed and Executive Produced Collateral, the BBC/Netflix four-part limited series starring Carey Mulligan. She was also recently chosen to direct the upcoming Star Trek sequel as well.

While we wait for developments on the new Game Of Thrones prequel, viewers can catch up on all seven seasons of the HBO Original hit-series Game Of Thrones every day from 26 February on HBO (Astro Ch 411 / 431 HD).
