The X-Men spinoff, Gambit has been languishing in development hell for a number of months now. The most recent news coming out from the production is that further script developments are taking place, which has all but scuppered 20th Century Fox’s plans to debut the film this October.
With no filming date set yet, there’s a chance that Gambit might be pushed back to next year although speculation is rife that Fox aims to land this one in cinemas by end 2016. With the production now in limbo, director Doug Liman is honing his talents on the psychological thriller The Wall for Amazon Studios.
The good news though is nothing has really changed with the production in terms of casting with Channing Tatum still attached to star as Gambit. There’s also no shortage of superhero films to satiate fans, with a number of superhero flicks set to invade cinemas this year. Fox also has the X-Men sequel, X-Men: Apocalypse due out this year, so having one less superhero in cinemas, even if it is Gambit is bearable to say the least.
