Director Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot will team-up again this time for the new Cleopatra film, which will be produced by Paramount Pictures. The new movie will tell the story of the famous Egyptian queen, which will be portrayed by Gadot.
This will mark the third project the duo will collaborating on following 2017’s Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984, which should be released later this year. There have been several films centred on Cleopatra over the years but this one marks the latest effort from a major studio.
Reportedly Paramount didn’t just beat Universal and Warner Bros. to the project but also streamers Apple and Netflix as well. Described as a period biographical drama, the film will focus on the queen’s reign in Egypt, where she was officially the last Egyptian ruler of the Ptolemaic Kingdom.
Cleopatra marks the next big outing for Gadot following her turn as Wonder Woman in several DCEU films. In addition to her reprisal of the Amazon warrior in Wonder Woman 1984, she will also feature as the superhero again in the Snyder Cut of the Justice League due for HBO Max in 2021.
