The Walking Dead is one of the best things going in television these days and AMC is eager to capitalize on the franchise with a new companion series. Although The Walking Dead spinoff doesn’t have an official title as yet, the channel is confident that a secondary zombie series will not dilute the popularity of the show in anyway. And that’s why AMC has already commissioned a two-season order.
According to the official press release from AMC, the new series will be set in Los Angeles, and will focus on new characters and storylines. The series will also be a prequel of sorts with a timeline centred on the outbreak of the zombie outbreak in L.A. The first season will have six, hour-long episodes, which will premiere sometime in late summer in, with the second season scheduled for 2016. The new series stars Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane, and Alycia Debnam Carey.
