FX has assembled an all-star cast for its new drama series, Mrs. America, which revolves around the Equal Rights Amendment ratification in the U.S. Cate Blanchett leads the charge in this new nine-episode limited series. She will be supported by Rose Byrne, Margo Martinda, Tracey Ullmann, Elizabeth Banks and Uzo Aduba.
Mrs. America tells the story of the movement to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), and the unexpected backlash led by a conservative woman named Phyllis Schlafly, played by Blanchett.
Through the eyes of the women of that era – both Schlafly and Second Wave feminists Gloria Steinem (Bryne), Betty Friedan (Ullmann), Shirley Chisholm (Aduba), Bella Abzug (Martindale) and Jill Ruckelshaus (Banks) – the series explores how one of the toughest battlegrounds in the culture wars of the 70s helped give rise to the Moral Majority and forever shifted our political landscape.
The series also stars James Marsden, John Slattery and Sarah Paulson.
