First Look: Crimson Peak
Before Guillermo del Toro set his sights on weaving his magic with Kaijus and Jaegers, he will first take audiences on a supernatural ride with Crimson Peak. A production between Legendary Pictures’ and Universal Pictures, Crimson Peak is a haunting gothic horror story directed by the master of dark fairy tales based on a story written by del Toro, Matthew Robbins and Lucinda Coxon.
The film boasts an all-star cast the likes of Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston and Charlie Hunnam and it zeroes in on the aftermath of a family tragedy, with an aspiring author who is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. As she comes to grips trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds…and remembers.
The first official photo release from the film sees actress Jessica Chastain strike a haunting figure on top a flight of stairs. Judging by the look and feel of the photo, it would seem that del Toro is on track in delivering another horror-fic / dark fairy-tale masterpiece in the same mould as Pan’s Labyrinth.
