Ghostbusters: Afterlife will hit cinemas in Summer 2020 but for the time being Sony has revealed a few images from the film. According to a report in Vanity Fair, the new movie is tied to the events from the original franchise.
The story unfolds decades after the original Ghostbusters saved New York City from the Sumerian God, Gozer, following a family who moves to Oklahoma. The trio, Callie (Carrie Coon) and her two kids, Phoebe (McKenna Grace) and Trevor (Finn Wolfhard) move into a new property that’s left behind by Carrie’s mysterious father.
They soon discover the property is filled with bizarre contraptions and devices that lead back to the Ghostbusters. The new film is directed by Jason Reitman, whose father, Ivan, directed the original hit. Ghostbusters: Afterlife will also see the original cast return as well with Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson reprising their characters from the original franchise.
Harold Ramis, who played Egon in the original films, sadly passed away several years ago but his character will reportedly be honoured in a big way in this new film.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife comes to cinemas in July 2020.
