The Escape from New York reboot is making its rounds again in Hollywood. Although the production has been stuck in development hell, it seems that producer Joel Silver is still itching to get the project off the ground.
Rumours are circulating that Sons of Anarchy lead, Charlie Hunnam is the front runner to star as Snake Plissken in this reboot. Another close contender is Jon Bernthal who recently starred in The Grudge Match and The Walking Dead series. Hunnam is apparently the favourite for the role but the actor’s busy schedule, which includes Pacific Rim 2 and Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur project, could prove to be a problem.
It is not known at this time if Escape from New York will follow the same storyline as the original John Carpenter classic. The cult classic starred Kurt Russell as a highly trained mercenary who is sent into New York, which is now a prison to rescue the U.S President who has been taken hostage.
