The Harry Potter spinoff, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them has officially signed on Eddie Redmayne to star in the film. The Academy Award winning actor will take on the role of Newt Scamander in what would be a prequel to the hit series.
The announcement of Redmayne’s participation was made by Warner Bros’ President of Creative Development and Worldwide Production, Greg Silverman. The character profile of the J.K. Rowling creation is said to be a preeminent magizoologist who discovers and documents a number of magical creatures on his travels, which he eventually records down in the Hogwarts School textbook, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.’
“Eddie Redmayne has emerged as one of today’s most extraordinarily talented and acclaimed actors. We are thrilled to welcome him into J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World, where we know he will deliver a remarkable performance as Newt Scamander, the central character in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” said Silverman in the official statement.
Warner Bros. Pictures has slated Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them for worldwide release in November 2016.
