It looks like Robert Downey Jr isn’t all that ready to hang up those high tech suits of armour after all…
At the end of Iron Man 3, it seemed as it Robert Downey Jr had finally closed the chapter on Iron Man. That of course wasn’t exactly true because he’ll be reprising the role of Tony Stark/Iron Man in Avengers: Age of Ultron next year.
But despite pushing 50, the actor is nevertheless open to the idea of playing Iron Man again, beyond the third Avengers film, which he is currently under contract for. But nevertheless, the A-lister does realise that the decision for a fourth Iron Man film and the actor that will play the character is completely under Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Pictures.
Downey Jr’s sudden renewed interest in playing Iron Man for a fourth standalone film could however be related back to money. Forbes recently ranked the actor as the highest paid in Hollywood with over USD75 million earned. The bulk of those earnings were largely due to Downey’s involvement with Marvel’s movie franchise.
As of right now, Marvel has yet to announce that there will be a fourth standalone Iron Man film, but they do have a busy period ahead of
them with five yet untitled projects scheduled from 2016 to 2019.
Avengers: Age of Ultron hits cinemas in summer 2015.
