1999’s Deep Blue Sea wasn’t a big a hit as Warner Bros wanted it to be but almost twenty years on, the studio has delivered a sequel in Deep Blue Sea 2.
In Deep Blue Sea 2, shark conservationist Dr. Misty Calhoun (Danielle Savre) is invited to consult on a new, top secret project run by pharmaceutical billionaire Carl Durant (Michael Beach). When science meddles with the time-tested process of nature and nurture, the outcome can be deadly.
Judging by the trailer, it would seem that the film’s plot hasn’t differed much from the original, with genetically-engineered sharks running riot in some abandoned undersea facility. The sequel seems content to live within its B-movie, creature feature segment, which is why it will be released strictly via DVD and Blu-Ray only.
Deep Blue Sea 2 is directed by Jack Perez, who previously helmed Mega Shark Versus Giant Octopus. Check out the trailer after the jump.
