Looks like the tide is coming in on the Atlantean superhero with two screenplays being commissioned.
It looks like DC is getting ready to steal some thunder from Marvel with nine untitled movies being planned for the next six years. And although most of these movies will come to fruition once Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is wrapped, Warner Bros. is already moving on some of DC’s properties, one of which is Aquaman.
According to various news reports, Warner Bros. has hired writers Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad who worked on Gangster Squad and 300: Rise of an Empire respectively to pen two separate scripts for the Aquaman project. Rumours are also rampant that Jason Momoa is largely tipped to play the hero and that he might even debut on screen in Batman v Superman in 2016 as well.
Although these reports are speculative in nature, we feel that Aquaman has a solid enough backstory to kick off a successful solo franchise. But if that falls through rest assured the Atlantis King should secure his spot on screen in the Justice League motion picture, if and when it gets made.
Are you excited to see Aquaman on the big screen or do you think he’s too lame to strike out on his own?
