A film based on the life of 90s rap star, Vanilla Ice is in the works with Dave Franco set to portray the music icon. Famous for his smash hit, Ice Ice Baby, Vanilla Ice whose real name is Robert Van Winkle, rose through the ranks of music and rap, in the 1990s.
The film, which is currently titled To The Extreme, which is incidentally was the title of his debut album, recounts the rise and fall of the rapper.
According to the brief synopsis the film centres on Vanilla Ice, and how the high school dropout selling cars in Dallas went on to have his first hip-hop single top the Billboard charts. Riding on the success of ‘Ice Ice Baby,’ a young Vanilla Ice struggles with stardom, extortion attempts, and selling out as he makes music history.
No stranger to fame and acting, Vanilla Ice also featured in a handful of appearances over the years on screen. He was last seen in a cameo, playing himself in the Netflix comedy, The Wrong Missy, which starred David Spade. As for Franco, the actor has recently completed his directorial debut in the thriller, The Rental, which stars Alison Brie and Dan Stevens.
