Hard to believe but a sequel to Daddy’s Home is being planned at Paramount Pictures. The family comedy will reunite stars, Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell as a pair of bumbling fathers who engage each other in a battle of wits.
Daddy’s Home was an unexpected comedy hit that raked in over USD200 million at the box-office. The sequel is also expected to see Linda Cardellini return as well and quite possibly, WWE Superstar John Cena as well who has a cool cameo in the film.
It is quite ironic that Paramount would choose to greenlight a sequel to Daddy’s Home despite its modest pull at the box-office. Both Wahlberg and Ferrell have proven to have great comedic chemistry together, a fact they proved in The Other Guys in 2010. A sequel to that however has yet to see the light of day despite it being a bigger box-office hit.
Daddy’s Home is currently in development at Paramount Pictures and Gary Sanchez Productions. No release or production date has been given as yet.
