Spurred on by the success of IT, MGM is apparently looking to reboot the 1988 horror classic, Child’s Play. The film, which introduced the world to Chucky, the maniacal demon doll, was a cult classic franchise that spawned its own sequels and spinoffs.
MGM has no plans apparently on dialling back the years and have Child’s Play stick to its 80s origins. The updated reboot will take place in the current timeline with a group of children discovering a technologically advanced doll that harbours evil intentions.
The original film told the story of a serial killer whose soul gets trapped inside a Good Guy doll, which is named Chucky. The new film will see director Lars Klevberg stepping in to helm the film. No production start date or release date for the Child’s Play reboot has been given as yet.
