In Wednesday night’s season finale, Lance Busa was crowned the winner of the first season of the popular Bolt of Talent, FOX Networks Group Asia’s original singing competition, earning three grand prizes including a record deal, Asian Dream Tour with the legendary award-winning American songwriter and pop culture icon: Michael Bolton and Subaru ambassadorship.
Bolt of Talent saw Lance fight for the amazing prize against seven other contestants hailing from Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand. The show followed their progression over a seven-week journey, mentored by Michael Bolton.
The contestants were challenged with reinventing, rearranging and reproducing a range of Bolton’s Greatest Hits in hopes of striking a chord with not only the audience, but also, the man behind the music. Over the course of the competition, Filipino talent Lance impressed Michael with his passion and sheer determination to go the distance.
Lance has been singing since the age of five. With no formal training, he has spent the last few years performing in bars and at small corporate events. He was a part of the Philippines’ first-ever multi-platform boy band competition – “To The Top”, placing him in good stead for Bolt of Talent. His dream has always been to sing on stage at a sold-out concert, and now he will have his chance, alongside icon Michael Bolton.
Michael Bolton said, “Throughout the show I’ve met some very talented young singer-songwriters whose love for singing has shone through. Competition was fierce, but Lance stood out against the other competitors with his unique interpretations of my songs and his willingness to work hard and never give up.
The show has been testament to the talent across Asia, and I hope it appeals to aspiring singers in the region – no singing dream is too big.” The first season of Bolt of Talent was presented by Subaru, the title sponsor who have provided the series with valuable support in the form of the grand prize including Subaru ambassadorship and driving the Asia Dream Tour, among other promotional efforts.
