The Aquaman trailer has finally landed and it seems that the DCEU has embarked on a lighter and more colourful tone compared to the universe Zack Snyder has crafted. Starring Jason Momoa in the titular role and directed by James Wan, Aquaman is an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breath-taking underwater world of the seven seas.
The origins tales looks to take place before the events of Justice League (or perhaps Warner Bros has decided that that film didn’t take place after all) with the story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry who embarks on a journey of his lifetime.
Realising that he is the true heir of Atlantis, Curry has to not only to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of whom he was born to be…a king.
As seen in the Aquaman trailer, the filmalso re-introduces us to Amber Heard as Mera, a fierce warrior and Aquaman’s ally throughout his journey. The film also shows us Patrick Wilson as Orm/Ocean Master, the present King of Atlantis, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as the vengeful Black Manta; and Nicole Kidman as Arthur’s mom, Atlanna.
The film also stars Willem Dafoe as Vulko, council to the Atlantean throne and Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, King of the Atlantean tribe Xebel. Aquaman swims into cinemas in December 2018.
